University of Technology Celebrates Sports Week 2024 with Fit India Fitness Pledge
The University of Technology, Jaipur, marked the grand commencement of its Sports Week 2024, incorporating the Fit India Fitness Pledge as guided by the Sports Ministry of Rajasthan and the Chief Minister. The week-long celebration kicked off with a series of traditional games and activities aimed at promoting fitness and preserving cultural heritage.
Fit India Fitness Pledge
The Sports Week began with the Fit India Fitness Pledge Ceremony, where students were encouraged to dedicate 30 minutes daily to their health and motivate their families and communities to do the same. This initiative was led by Dr. Anshu Surana, Pro Chancellor, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Engagement in Traditional Games
The week unfolded with a variety of traditional Indian games, creating excitement and strengthening the bond between students and Indian culture.
On August 26, the event started with a 300-meter race and the official inauguration of the Sports Week. The following day saw traditional games such as Satoliya, Tug of War, and Handkerchief Jhapatta, which were enthusiastically embraced by the students. The excitement continued with Kho-Kho and Kabaddi matches held on August 28, further invigorating the event.
Focus on Fitness and Culture
Registrar Dr. Anoop Sharma highlighted the significance of these traditional sports, explaining how they promote both physical fitness and mental well-being while fostering teamwork. The week-long event is set to continue until August 31, providing students with opportunities to engage in various sporting activities.
