Removing Ragging In All It’s Forms From University Is Our Aim!

University of Technology aims at abolishing the ragging system from the institution. The campus should be Ragging Free. The grievance team has also came up with an announcement of Anti-Ragging Policy under which any one can report ragging in the university cell.

WHAT IS RAGGING?
Ragging is referred to any act that results in Mental, Physical and Sexual Abuse. Any act that consists verbal abuse, indecent behavior, criminal intimidation, Wrongful behavior, Restraint, Undermining Human Dignity, Financial Exploitation, Extortion, and using of force will be stated as Ragging.

Raggers are few of the disrupted elements in our institution who uses their power and indecent behavior to over-rule the young and freshly enrolled students. Ragging is not just notorious practices done by seniors. They want their juniors to act according to their way. Not just this, if any of the junior counterpart has neglected or rejected to run accordingly then, they harass the junior in every possible way.

Seniors uses this excuse of ragging for fulfilling their sadistic means and pleasures. Juniors sometime gets a fear of force and power , and acts according to their way. Ragging has been a brutal activity, that has ruined many lives. The molding age of student is switched in fear and haunting for entire life. Each and Every student chooses a college and institution for building a good foundation for their career , but their dreams can begin with the haunting reality, they could not tackle.

VICTIM IS AFFECTED IN FOLLOWING WAYS AFTER BEING RAGGED

• FRIGHTENED: A victim will always keep in mind the unpleasant behavior that has given him/her a permanent scar , which will haunt him regularly.
• BREAK THE SHELL: A victim will try to be in a shell and will not cross his/her limits for any reason. the experience of ragging make a child under-confident, that disables the one to move according to their view point. The humiliation and alienation is what they develop then.
• DEMORALIZING: Ragging declines the slope of scope in each and every aspect. the hopes and expectations that were built by the new student vanishes secretively.
• BEING A DROPOUT: A victim can drop his/her studies and can give a dropout title to themselves for entire life. The career oriented individual has completely changed what he want in life.
• PROTESTER ISOLATION: Any individual or group of people that are protesting against ragging, have to face a different kind of isolation from college seniors and batch mates.
• PHYSICAL MARKS: Ragging has the bad impact at the marks that they give by physical abuse. Those marks haunts the victim permanently. This leads to mental trauma and stress.
• SUICIDES: Ragging at extreme cases has impacted a life so brutally that numerous cases of suicides and homicides have been recorded.
• FAMILY STRESS: A victim don’t suffer the ragging alone but the family runs the entire race with him/her. No family wants their child to sink down in isolation, stress and trauma. the career is vanished with full force.

WHAT WILL BE DONE TO THE ONE WHO IS INVOLVED IN RAGGING AT THE UNIVERSITY?

• Cancellation of Admission
• Suspension from attending classes
• Withholding/Withdrawing Scholarship/ Fellowship and other benefits.
• Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process. with holding results.
• Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet , tournament or youth festival etc.
• COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on potential ragger.

HOW RAGGING IMPACTS AN INSTITUTION

1. Severe media barrage in extreme cases of ragging lowers the character of the educational institution and destroys the respect and faith it commands from society.

2. Those who indulge in ragging bring a bad name to their college thereby hinder its reputation and goodwill in society.
