Summary about the applicant:

Born in 1961 in Dholpur, Rajasthan, my academic journey has been punctuated by milestones that reflect a commitment to excellence. I earned my Ph.D. degree from the esteemed King’s College London under the guidance of Prof. David O Hall, delving deep into the realms of photosynthesis light reaction. Presently I have retired from the post of Senior Professor in the School of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology at Goa University (August 31, 2023) . My global exposure has been enriched by several long term post doctorate assignment at eminent institutes such as Imperial College London (twice), Rothemsted Agricultural Institute, University of Cambridge, University of Exeter and Jawaherlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Beside I have done several short term trainings at University of Sheffield, Waiginen Agricultural University, The Netherlands, Luven-La-Nuv, France. The exposure has endowed me with a profound insight into diverse work cultures, both academic and administrative, fostering a holistic perspective that is pivotal for institutional growth.

My scholarly contribution in the field of Molecular Stress Physiology of Plants, notably in environmental influence on crop productivity are supported by nearly 52 research publications in esteemed international and national SCI journals which garnered an impressive cumulative impact factor exceeding 72 and h factor of 16 and has been recognised through prestigious awards and fellowships, including Government of India’s national scholarship to study abroad, DST young scientist research award, DAE Govt. of India Research Award, Prof. Hiralal Chakaravarty Award, Commonwealth Academic staff fellowship, Royal Society-INSA National Fellowship, DBT Overseas fellowship etc..

I have been honoured to share my research insights at numerous international and national conferences solidifying my standing as a thought leader in the field. My academic excellence extend beyond awards and fellowship  encompassing associate and consulting editors of esteemed Journals of Plant physiology, J. Plant Biology  and Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology. I have been a member of the UGC constituted expert committee to develop learning outcome based syllabus for UG Botany in 2017-18 and also been on the UGC committee for evaluation and selection of research projects in Botany.
